  • The committee will hold its next meeting in Rome. Its members will hold an exchange of views on “Challenges in the implementation of the ECHR in Italy”, with the participation of the Italian Minister for Justice. The agenda for the meeting also includes hearings on the “Reinforcement of the role and influence of the International Criminal Court (ICC)”, and on “Abuse of the Interpol system: the need for more stringent legal safeguards”, as well as the adoption of reports on “Administrative detention” and “Transparency and openness in European institutions”.

    A joint seminar with the Committee on Rules of Procedure will be held in Rome on parliamentary responsibility focusing on two themes: “Parliamentary accountability: a matter of ethics or politics?” and “Ensuring respect for ECHR norms: parliamentary structures to supervise compliance”.
