Strasbourg, 02.10.2013 – The voting rights of the Icelandic delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have been restored after the appointment of a woman as a Representative, in line with the Assembly’s rules.
They were suspended on Monday, the opening day of PACE’s Autumn plenary session, after the delegation failed to meet a deadline set by the Assembly in June for bringing its composition into line with the rules.
All national delegations to PACE must include women members at least in the same percentage as in their parliaments with, at a very minimum, at least one woman appointed as a Representative. Delegations are made up of both Representatives and Substitutes.
The new delegation includes Unnur Brá Konráðsdóttir as a Representative.
