Role of national parliaments in the implementation of judgments of the Court

A second seminar – after London in October 2013 – on the “Role of national parliaments in the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human rights” will be held in Warsaw on 13 February 2014 at the invitation of the Polish Parliament, with the cooperation of the PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights. It will take a regional dimension, as neighboring countries are invited, namely Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, the Slovak Republic and Ukraine.

Its main objective is to support parliamentarians in improving their knowledge of the European Convention on Human Rights and to implement effectively the judgments of the Court. Further objectives are to consider the effectiveness of existing structures and mechanisms for the verification of Convention standards within national parliaments and to enable parliamentarians of different member states to share their experiences.
