Andrea Rigoni (Italy, ALDE), rapporteur of the Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), will make a fact-finding visit to Minsk on 25-26 February 2015, in the context of the preparation of his report on the situation in Belarus. The last visit by a PACE rapporteur dates back to August 2010.
During his visit, he is due to meet the Speakers of both Chambers of the National Assembly, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Information and Religious and Ethnic Affairs, as well as the Chairpersons of various parliamentary committees including the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Head of the death penalty Task Force.
Meetings are also scheduled with the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, the Chairman of the Central Commission on Elections, the Head of the EU delegation as well as opposition leaders and civil society representatives.
In addition, Mr Rigoni will visit the Council of Europe Information Point and will also meet students at Minsk University.
