Delegation makes visit to Turkey to assess developments following the Coup attempt

An ad hoc Sub-Committee of the Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), chaired by Mogens Jensen (Denmark, SOC), who is also Chairperson of the plenary Committee, and composed of five other members*, will examine the recent developments in Turkey during a visit to Ankara from 21 to 23 November 2016.

Meetings are scheduled, in particular, with the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, the Minister of Justice, representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior Affairs, and various parliamentary groups.

The members of the ad hoc Sub-Committee will also have meetings with the President of the Constitutional Court, the Deputy President (and members) of the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors, the Chair of the Committee on Human Rights, the Chair of the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on the 15 July Coup attempt, journalists, as well as with representatives of civil society and the diplomatic community.
