PACE’s Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination is hosting a Facebook Live webinar on the gender dimension of foreign policy in the response to COVID-19 at 4 p.m. CET on 11 June.
Panellists include current and former diplomats and academics involved in this field from the Netherlands, Sweden and France, as well as a member of the European Parliament, and the Assembly’s rapporteur on this topic, Petra Stienen (Netherlands, ALDE).
Participants will look at how gender has affected the response to the crisis and how women have been negatively affected by it disproportionately, as well as highlighting good practices from around Europe.
“The situation demonstrates the need for leadership and political commitment to uphold women’s rights,” said Ms Stienen. “There can be no efficient response to the pandemic, or any international crisis, without an inclusive, co-ordinated and gendered approach.”
The webinar will be streamed live on the Facebook page of the Parliamentary Network Women Free from Violence.
