The Assembly,
1. Expressing satisfaction that the 3rd Conference of European Ministers of Labour is to meet in Madrid in 1985 on the initiative of the Spanish Government ;
2. Recalling that it will shortly be holding a debate on employment in Europe on the basis of reports submitted by its Committees on Economic Affairs and Development and on Social and Health Questions ;
3. Noting, however, that by the time these reports and the recommendations contained in them come up for debate, preparations for the next Conference of European Ministers will already have begun ;
4. Recalling also that 1985 has been proclaimed International Youth Year,
5. Recommends that the Committee of Ministers invite the Organising Committee responsible for preparing the conference :
a to examine the possibility of holding the conference in concert with the Ministers of Economic Affairs, with a view to co-ordinating economic and labour policies more closely ;
b to include among the main themes of the conference the issue of youth employment, and to examine in due course, with the greatest attention, the proposals contained in the recommendation on employment in Europe which will be shortly adopted by the Assembly.
