The Parliamentary Alliance for Good Governance and Integrity in Sport brings together parliamentarians dedicated to promoting good governance, human rights and inclusion in sport.
In addition to members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Alliance includes representatives of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS), international sport organisations which have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Council of Europe (FIFA and UEFA) and civil society organisations.
Through round tables and publications, the Alliance raises awareness amongst parliamentarians of governance issues in sport, such as corruption, manipulation of competitions, doping, gender equality, inclusion of people with disabilities, racism, and the safety of stadia. By fostering dialogue between parliaments, governments and sport organisations, it ensures that legislators’ perspectives are represented on international platforms addressing sport governance and integrity.
The Alliance was founded in 2024, following the adoption of PACE Resolution 2199 (2018) “Towards a framework for modern sports governance”. It holds regular meetings, to which it invites athletes, researchers, and representatives of sports federations, national authorities and international organisations.
