In his speech on the occasion of the handing over of the Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers from “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” to Turkey, PACE President Mevlüt Çavusoglu welcomed the priorities of the Turkish Chairmanship. He added that they went in the same direction as those of PACE: reform of the Council of Europe and of the European Court of Human Rights, accession of the EU to the European Convention on Human Rights, the strengthening of the Organisation’s monitoring mechanisms as well as inter-cultural dialogue. He also congratulated the outgoing chair on the country’s most fruitful and successful chairmanship.
