Following the earthquake that hit north-eastern Italy yesterday, PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon has sent to the Presidents of the Italian Senate, Renato Giuseppe Schifani, and the Chamber of Deputies, Gianfranco Fini, the following letter of condolence:
“Allow me to express, on behalf of all members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and on my own behalf, my deepest sympathy with the Italian people, following the terrible earthquake that struck your country yesterday.
Please kindly convey to the bereaved and injured our message of compassion, solidarity and comfort, and extend our encouragement to the rescue teams who do an outstanding job to help the victims.”
