28/01/2015 Session
In adopting a resolution on the basis of the report by Andrej Hunko (Germany, UEL), PACE today asked member States to take a series of measures to protect and strengthen the rights to organise, bargain collectively and strike by revising their labour laws and reinforcing labour inspections.
“Investing in social rights is an investment in the future,” the parliamentarians said, “and in order to build and maintain strong and sustainable socio-economic systems in Europe, social rights need to be protected and promoted.” Such rights must be restoring wherever institutions and processes have already been undermined by recent legislative or regulatory changes.
The Assembly also recommended ending financial and economic austerity policies and putting emphasis on pro-active investment policies, stronger involvement of social partners and the promotion of decent work for all.
