The Standing Committee (*) of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will meet in Paris on Friday 6 March 2020.
Following the opening speech by the PACE President Rik Daems, the parliamentarians will debate the functioning and future of the Council of Europe and its Parliamentary Assembly.
Participants will also debate the prevention of violence and discrimination against religious minorities amongst refugees in Europe, on the basis of the report prepared by Egidijus Vareikis (Lithuania, EPP/CD) on behalf of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons.
There has been a request for a current affairs debate on "Recent developments at the Turkish-Greek-Bulgarian borders: how to safeguard human rights?"

The meeting of the Standing Committee, which is open to the press, will take place on Friday 6 March from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm at the French National Assembly (Salle Lamartine), 101 rue de l’Université, Paris 7ème (Métro: Invalides/Assemblée nationale).

(*) The Standing Committee, which acts on the Assembly's behalf between plenary sessions, is made up of the President and Vice-Presidents of the Assembly, the chairpersons of political groups, the chairpersons of national delegations and the committee chairpersons, totaling some 60 parliamentarians from the 47 member States of the Council of Europe.
