PACE and EBRD Presidents agree new priority areas for working together

EBRD / PACE

The Presidents of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have agreed new priority areas for co-operation – including joining forces to promote gender equality and measures to prevent and combat violence against women; co-operating to promote a safe, healthy and sustainable environment and the transition to a low-carbon green economy; and promoting inclusive and sustainable economies through digitalisation.

During a telephone discussion today, PACE’s Rik Daems and the EBRD’s Odile Renaud-Basso agreed on the new priorities as part of a renewed exchange of letters within the framework of the Agreement between the EBRD and the Council of Europe signed in Budapest in April 1992.

Underlining the importance of the long-standing co-operation between the two bodies, the two Presidents said the changes reflected the new challenges and evolving agendas of both PACE and the EBRD in accordance with their respective mandates.
