The Assembly,
Having regard to Resolution No. 8 (1958) of the European Conference of Local Authorities ;
Emphasising that the problem of the balanced development of the various regions of member countries and, in particular, of improvement in the standard of living of insufficiently developed regional communities is one of the most important problems of contemporary Europe ;
Considering that a sound policy of European regional planning should, in particular, entail the economic integration of natural regions which have been split up by national frontiers and the maintenance or restoration of the balance between urban and rural areas,
Resolves to determine appropriate measures to ensure the balanced development of the regional communities of the member countries ;
Instructs its Committee on Local Authorities to report to it on the following questions :
