Motion for a recommendation

The Assembly,
Considering that frontier road traffic has considerably increased in recent years in most Member States of the Council of Europe;
Considering that this situation calls for adequate international regulations on a multilatersal basis,
Recommends that the Committee of Ministers should:
a draw up a draft European Agreement on frontier road traffic modelled on the bilateral Agreement signed by Switzerland and Austria on 22nd October 1958;
b submit this draft Agreement to the Member States of the Council of Europe for signature and ratification;
c keep the Assembly informed of the action taken on the present Recommendation.
