The Assembly
Having regard to its Recommendation 263 of 28th September 1960 on the international campaign, led by UNESCO, to save the monuments of Nubia;
Desirous of once again calling attention to the urgency of this problem;
Reiterating its conviction that no effort should be spared to carry out this grand design, a noteworthy example of international protection;
Considering that the time has come for UNESCO to bring the scheme to a successful and speedy conclusion,
Reaffirms the belief that a special responsibility in the matter devolves on member countries of the Council of Europe; and
Recommends that the Committee of Ministers should, in accordance with Article 15 (b) of the Statute, recommend that member Governments give the most urgent thought to all possible means of giving the project immediate further practical support.
