The Assembly,

1. Having adopted Recommendation 712 on the integration of migrant workers with the society of their host countries ;

2. Considering that employers and trade unions should in future assume greater responsibility in promoting the integration of migrant workers,

3. Invites :

Trade unions in immigration countries :

a to hold regular consultations with their counterparts in emigration countries on the situation of migrant workers ;

b to encourage migrant workers to participate more directly in national trade union activities ;

Employers' organisations in immigration countries :

a to offer migrant workers the same opportunities for promotion as indigenous workers

b to promote vocational training for migrant workers ;

c to encourage migrant workers' integration in working communities by means of a company policy ensuring that indigenous workers are not privileged by reason of their nationality.
