1 Report of the Committee on the Election of Judges to the European Court of Human Rights

The Committee held a meeting in Strasbourg on 19 June 2016 with Mr Boriss Cilevičs (Latvia, SOC), in the Chair.

2 Introduction

In accordance with previous practice and as specified in Parliamentary Assembly Resolution 2002 (2014),Note the Committee on the Election of Judges to the European Court of Human Rights assessed the qualifications of the candidates to the Court in respect of the United Kingdom.Note A list of members of the Committee who participated in the meeting can be found in Appendix 2.

3 Conclusions of the committee on the list of candidates submitted by the United Kingdom, Contracting State to the European Convention on Human Rights

The Committee recommends, by a narrow majority, Mr Tim Eicke, over Ms Jessica Simor, as the most qualified candidate.
