The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has adopted a resolution addressing the precarious and irregular work situations faced by migrant seasonal and domestic workers. It highlights the increasing vulnerability of these workers due to factors such as temporary contracts, language barriers, and the prevalence of undocumented employment, which often leads to exploitation and human trafficking. The resolution emphasises the need for member States to comply with international legal frameworks, improve migration and labour laws, and enhance protections for migrant workers. Key recommendations include criminalising forced labour, implementing effective labour inspections, and facilitating access to justice for exploited workers. The Assembly calls for a collective effort to safeguard the rights of migrant workers and ensure their fair treatment in the labour market.
