This written declaration does not reflect the position of the Assembly; only of those members that have signed it. It will not be considered further by the Assembly.
We, the undersigned, declare the following:
As members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of
Europe, we urgently appeal to you, esteemed members of the United
States Congress, to continue America’s unified, robust, moral and
material response towards the Russian Federation’s aggression against
Ukraine.
Russia’s aggression is not merely an affront to national sovereignty
and territorial integrity; it revives ominous echoes of the past
when hesitancy led to global conflict.
Bipartisan support in the Congress, has played a crucial role
in bolstering Ukraine’s valiant struggle. It is testament to our
common defense of democratic values and our firm opposition to authoritarianism.
Supporting Ukraine’s courageous self-defense now is paramount.
It is not just about protecting one nation, but about safeguarding
our collective peace, deterring future conflicts, and upholding
the tenets of international law.
The choices the US Congress makes will decisively shape the
future of global relations and protect the cherished principles
of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, which we share
with you.
Your support at this time is critical for the sake of those
shared values and for the future.
