The Parliamentary Assembly underscores the persistent issue of gender-based violence against women, exacerbated by historical inequalities and facilitated by modern technology. It reaffirms the critical role of the Istanbul Convention in setting comprehensive standards for prevention, protection, prosecution, and policy-making, emphasizing victim rights. The Assembly celebrates the convention’s positive impact since its enactment while calling for counteraction against disinformation campaigns and renewed ratification, particularly urging Türkiye’s re-engagement. Further, it advocates for intersectional approaches, enhanced data collection, and education to prevent violence, while stressing the involvement of men and boys as agents of change. Recommendations include legislative enhancements, support for civil society, and stringent measures against online violence, all aiming to fulfil United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Lastly, the Assembly calls for member states' active promotion and legislative alignment with the Istanbul Convention’s standards to ensure a life free from violence for women and girls.
