The Assembly,
Having regard to Resolution 31 (1962) of the European Conference of Local Authorities on aid by local authorities to Europe Houses ;
Having regard to Article 1 (b), sub-paragraph 2, of the Charter of the European Conference of Local Authorities ;
Having regard to the conclusions of the 2nd Conference of representatives of Europe Houses ;
Recalling its Resolutions 186 (1960) and 214 (1961) ;
Recalling its Resolution 229 (1962) expressing the conviction that the cultural activities of the Council of Europe cannot dispense with the help of "intermediate institutions",
Considers that, in the measure in which it aims to appeal to large sections of the European population and in particular to European youth, the Council for Cultural Cooperation should rely to an increasing extent on Europe Houses as invaluable "relay stations" ;
Expresses satisfaction at the setting up of the International Federation of Europe Houses as a body representing Europe Houses at European level ;
Approves the Federation's application for consultative status with the Council of Europe ;
Assures the Federation that it will support its application to the CCC for financial aid ;
Expresses its conviction that close, systematic and lasting co-operation between the European Conference of Local Authorities and the International Federation of Europe Houses, on the one hand, and local authorities and Europe Houses, on the other, is essential in view of the many common aims they pursue;
Approves the proposals and suggestions embodied in Resolution 31 (1962) of the European Conference of Local Authorities and recognises them as an important contribution to the establishment of the desired co-operation.
