This written declaration does not reflect the position of the Assembly; only of those members that have signed it. It will not be considered further by the Assembly.
We, the undersigned, declare the following:
1. The war of aggression by the
Russian Federation against Ukraine, costing the lives of thousands
of innocent citizens and leading to massive destruction, is being
financed with the Russian Federation’s oil and gas expert revenues;
2. We therefore welcome the oil and gas embargo imposed by several
EU and non-EU-countries on imports from the Russian Federation;
3. We regret however that too many EU-countries have taken no,
limited or very slow future action to impose a full oil and gas
embargo on imports from the Russian Federation;
4. We therefore call upon all those countries which are still
importing Russian oil and gas to stop doing so immediately and thereby
end their co-financing of the war;
5. We call also upon the European Union to impose a full embargo
on Russian oil and gas. This embargo should be part of the sixth
package of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
By adopting the above recommendations, we strongly believe
that the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine could no
longer be financed.
