22/04/2021 | 12:06:12 Thank you, Mister President, Dear Colleagues, I welcome the decision to hold a debate under urgent procedure on the situation in Turkey. Exactly ten years ago Turkey became the first member State to sign the Convention to eliminate all forms of violence against women in Istanbul. One year later its parliament unanimously ratified what is known as the Istanbul Convention. These decisions were taken by the same people and the same party still in power today. Sadly, much has changed in Turkey... 27/01/2021 | 18:06:35 Mr President, dear colleagues, I would like to thank the rapporteur for this important and timely report. Human trafficking and smuggling are complex and multidimensional problems that require transnational prevention methods. Unfortunately, also Finland is a destination and transit country for human traffickers. We have had several cases since 2004 when... 02/10/2019 | 16:50:28 Thank you Mr Chair. Dear colleagues, I would like to start by thanking the rapporteur Ms Nicole TRISSE for her excellent report. It gives us a comprehensive overview of the Council of Europe Development Bank’s activities and prospects for its future work. I very much welcome the suggestion to link the future strategy of the CEB to the UN´s Sustainable Development Goals, as they reflect our many common challenges ahead and call for action to tackle them. In the presence of CEB’s Director Mr...
