"I ended up in politics because I can only conceive of a life living in freedom," Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado told PACE President Theodoros Rousopoulos in a 2024 video podcast.
The President spoke with her at length for his vodcast series, "Round table with the President”, after she was awarded the Václav Havel Human Rights Prize in September 2024.
Ms Machado, speaking from a secret location because of threats to her life, talked about her work as a leader of the democratic opposition in Venezuela and the effort to bar her from standing in Venezuela's 2024 presidential election, whose outcome was widely regarded as fraudulent.
In other vodcasts, the President spoke with Russian opposition leader Vladimir Kara-Murza after his release from prison and with the President of the European Court of Human Rights Dr Marko Bošnjak.
