Strasbourg, 18.04.2013 – “On the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, I would like to pay tribute to the courageous men and women who took part in this historic act of resistance and remember the sacrifice of the victims,” Jean-Claude Mignon, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), said today.
“Faced with death, at the end of almost unimaginable suffering, the Jewish fighters of Warsaw tried to affirm the spirit of liberty and to save both their lives and their human dignity. Their courage will remain an inspiration for all those, wherever they may be, who remain under the heel of tyranny.”
