PACE recommends a series of measures to address the challenge of education

Strasbourg, 24.04.2013 – PACE has called on member states to adopt a more holistic approach to education and to secure the provision of adequate resources for this sector, at least 6 per cent of Gross Domestic Product.

In a resolution adopted today, following the report by Polonca Komar (Slovenia, ALDE), the Assembly also called on member states to take measures to enhance the traditional formal education setting and to improve recognition of and support for new learning settings, taking into account the proposals put forward by the “Strasbourg Process” on the recognition and validation of non-formal and informal learning. The adopted text also suggests facilitating access to education for children and young people from disadvantaged groups.
