Strasbourg 19.09.2013 – A six-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Meritxell Mateu Pi (Andorra, ALDE), will carry out a pre-election mission to Tbilisi on 24-25 September 2013, to assess the electoral framework and campaign prior to the presidential election on 27 October in Georgia.
The delegation is due to meet the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of Parliament, the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Justice and election candidates. Talks are also scheduled with the President of the Central Electoral Commission and with representatives of the international community, NGOs and the media.
A full 30-member delegation from the Assembly will return to the country to observe the voting.
The delegation will give a press conference on Wednesday 25 September at the Council of Europe Office in Tbilisi (26 Zmebi Kakabadzeebi.
