The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) meeting this week in plenary session in Strasbourg, today elected Iulia Antoanella Motoc as judge to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) with respect to Romania.
Ms Motoc, having obtained an absolute majority of votes cast, is elected a judge of the ECHR for a term of office of 9 years which shall commence as from 17 December 2013, or in any event no later than three months after her election.
