René Rouquet (France, SOC) will make a fact-finding visit to Georgia from 3 to 5 November to examine on the spot the situation of internally displaced people (IDPs) as part of the preparation of his report entitled “Alternatives to Europe’s sub-standard IDP collective centres”.
In Tbilisi the rapporteur will meet the Minister for Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, the Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs, members of various parliamentary committees, the Ombudsman and NGO representatives.
Mr Rouquet will also visit collective centres in Tbilisi and Rustavi, and new housing intended for IDPs in Tserovani.
He will give a press conference at the Council of Europe Office in Tbilisi (26 Kakabadzeebi Brothers Street) on Tuesday 5 November at 5.30 pm.
