A second seminar on this issue, aimed at the staff of national parliaments, was held on 16-17 January 2014 in Strasbourg. It was organised in cooperation with the PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights and financed by the Human Rights Trust Fund.
The programme included a presentation of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) as well as meetings with lawyers of the Court and DG I organised by the ECHR and the Department for the Execution of Judgments (DG I).
This seminar was attended by parliamentary staff of Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Montenegro, Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine, with legal training and working in legal committees or departments of their national parliament. Each delegation presented the activities of their parliament with regard to human rights and the execution of judgments of the Court. These contributions will serve as a basis for a document on the existing networks of human rights in parliaments.
