24/06/2014 Session
Any incitement to violence through the media must be prohibited, in accordance with international human rights standards, and the production, public display, sale and possession of media with gratuitous violence which violates human dignity must be punishable by law, said PACE today in a resolution adopted on the basis of a report by Sir Roger Gale (United Kingdom, EDG).
With a view to combating this phenomenon, the Assembly asked governments, national parliaments and media service providers to take a set of measures. It also recommended that the Committee of Ministers prepare practical guidance for parents, teachers and providers of media services and products on how to deal with violence in the media and its negative effects on individuals and society.
