A seven-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Christopher Chope (United Kingdom, EDG), will carry out a pre-electoral mission to Ukraine on 7-8 October, to assess the election campaign and political climate prior to the early parliamentary elections on 26 October.
In Kiev, the delegation is due to meet the President of the Republic, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Interior. Meetings are also planned with leaders and representatives of the main political parties participating in the elections, the Chairman and members of the Central Election Commission, and representatives of the international community, NGOs and the media.
A full 42-member delegation from the Assembly will return to the country to observe the voting.

The delegation will issue a statement at the end of the visit on Wednesday 8 October.
