For the second year in a row, the Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development organised a breast cancer awareness raising event. The President of the Assembly and dozens of its members showed their support to the event by wearing the pink ribbon distributed for the occasion.
This year, parliamentarians also had the possibility to learn more about the issue of breast cancer from invited advocates from the European Breast Cancer Coalition, Europa Donna.
In the context of the awareness raising event, the committee also held an exchange of views with Karen Benn, Head of Policy and Public Affairs of Europa Donna. The report by Stella Kyriakides (Cyprus, EPP/CD) entitled “Towards optimum breast cancer services across Europe” will be debated in the plenary on Friday 3 October.
Every year, the month of October is marked by breast cancer awareness raising events in countries across the world.
