Michael Aastrup Jensen (Denmark, ALDE) and Boriss Cilevics (Latvia, SOC) co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on the honouring of obligations and commitments by Georgia, will undertake a fact-finding visit to the country from 3 to 5 December.
Discussions will focus, in particular, on political developments, constitutional reform, reform of the justice system and independence of the judiciary, and minority issues.
In Tbilisi they are due to meet notably the Speaker of Parliament, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Corrections and the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees, as well as the Chief Prosecutor of Georgia.
Talks are also scheduled with representatives of the political factions in parliament and representatives of judicial authorities and civil society.
The co-rapporteurs will give a press conference (tbc) on Friday 5 December at 6 p.m at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Tbilisi.
