Rapporteur calls on Kosovo to follow up on PACE and Council of Europe recommendations

Welcoming the establishment of a new government in Kosovo* and the election of the President of the Kosovo Assembly, PACE's rapporteur on the situation in Kosovo, Agustín Conde (Spain, EPP/CD), has encouraged the Kosovo authorities to actively engage with the Council of Europe and, in particular, with its Parliamentary Assembly, with a view to fully implementing PACE Resolution 1912 (2013) and following up on the recommendations made by the Council of Europe monitoring bodies.

“I urge the Kosovo authorities to make further progress in improving the rule of law, particularly with regard to the fight against organised crime and corruption, throughout Kosovo, in strengthening the independence of the judiciary and in protecting and promoting minority rights and facilitating interaction between communities,” he stated. “I also call on the authorities in Pristina and Belgrade to rapidly resume the European Union-mediated dialogue without preconditions.”

The rapporteur intends to visit Pristina and Belgrade during the first half of 2015.
