Milena Santerini (Italy, SOC), who is currently preparing a report on “Recognising and preventing neo-racism” for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), will make a fact-finding visit to Berlin, Leipzig and Dresden on 2 and 3 March. During her visit, she is due to meet the State Secretary for Immigration, Refugees and Integration of the Federal Chancellery, the members of the German Bundestag committee on Home Affairs, the President of the Parliament of Saxony, the Minister for the Interior of the Land of Saxony, and the mayor and police commissioner of Leipzig.
Talks are also scheduled with the Vice-Chairperson of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), and representatives of the German Human Rights Institute, the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance and NGOs.
The rapporteur will also observe a demonstration by the Legida movement, planned in Leipzig on Monday 2 March.
