24/03/2015 Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons
Tineke Strik (The Netherlands, SOC), rapporteur of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), will conduct a fact finding visit to Ankara and Istanbul (Turkey) on 25-26 March 2015 as part of her preparation of a report on the issue of 'countries of transit: meeting new migration and asylum challenges'.
Her visit will focus on Turkey's evolving experience as a country of transit for migration to Europe, including the political, legal, social and practical aspects, the consequences of regional conflicts and the impact of co-operation with other European countries and the European Union.
During her visit, Ms Strik will meet representatives of the Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior, members of the Turkish delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly, as well as representatives of the UNHCR and IOM, and national and international civil society actors".
