Rapporteur welcomes Kosovo Assembly’s green light for Specialist Chambers

“I welcome the decisions taken by the Kosovo* Assembly to pave the way for the creation of Specialist Chambers as an important step in the right direction and a positive response to the Assembly’s resolution following Dick Marty’s 2011 investigation into allegations of inhuman treatment and illicit trafficking in human organs in Kosovo*,” said Agustín Conde (Spain, EPP/CD), rapporteur on the situation in Kosovo* for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

“As PACE President Anne Brasseur has said, this decision is definitively a step towards reconciliation. It also demonstrates the authorities’ willingness to fight against impunity and to respect the rule of law,” said Mr Conde, who is due to hold meetings in Belgrade (24-25 August 2015) and Kosovo* (dates to be confirmed) in preparation of his report.
