PACE delegation visits refugee and migrant reception facilities on the island of Kos

A five-member delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is to visit reception facilities for refugees and migrants on the Greek island of Kos from 24 to 25 October.

The delegation, headed by Doris Fiala (Switzerland, ALDE), will speak with recently arrived refugees and migrants, and visit areas of the coastline where they are arriving.

Later the parliamentarians will meet the Mayor of Kos and other local authorities from the islands concerned by the mass arrivals, as well as representatives of UNHCR and other humanitarian workers on the island.

They are also due to visit the Coast Guard facility where newly arrived refugees and migrants are being registered, as well as the police station where asylum applicants are being fingerprinted.
