The Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will hold a conference on the theme “A comprehensive humanitarian and political response to the migration and refugee crisis in Europe” in Paris on 16 December 2015.
Thierry Mariani (France, EPP/CD), Chair of the committee, will focus firstly on short- and medium-term concerns and potential solutions and secondly on long-term solutions and co-operation with countries of origin and first asylum.
Jacques Attali (France) and Guy Goodwin-Gill (United Kingdom) will act as moderators for the debates, which will be attended by chairs and members of the relevant committees of national parliaments, both members and non-members of the Parliamentary Assembly, including those of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Poland, Serbia, Sweden and Turkey.
The resulting conclusions of the conference will be published and used for future work of the Assembly in this domain.
The conference, which is being prepared in co-operation with PACE’s Parliamentary Projects Support Division, will be held in the Lamartine Room of the French National Assembly from 9.30 a.m. to 5.45 p.m.
