PACE voices concern over road safety

The Parliamentary Assembly has voiced its concern over road safety in a resolution approved today. Parliamentarians considered this issue as a public health priority and have urged national governments to do more to prevent deaths and injures related to road safety.

The "Road safety in Europe as a public health priority" report drafted by Naira Karapetyan (Armenia, EPP/CD) was unanimously approved by parliamentarians, backing the resolution's proposals to increase road safety.

The report suggested that states should implement and develop legislative and policy measures to reinforce current road safety programmes but also to develop and finance new ones.
