Serbia: co-rapporteurs to assess reforms of the judiciary, fight against corruption and situation of the media

Samad Seyidov (Azerbaijan, EC) and Maria Guzenina (Finland, SOC), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the monitoring of Serbia, will begin tomorrow a three-day fact-finding visit to Belgrade, to monitor the implementation of Resolution 1858 (2012) on The honouring of obligations and commitments by Serbia.

The rapporteurs intend to focus this assessment on the reforms of the judiciary and the fight against corruption, the situation of the media and the latest political developments.

During their visit, Ms Guzenina and Mr Seyidov are due to meet, in particular, the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister, Ministers of Justice, Culture and Information, Interior and Foreign Affairs, the Presidents of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of Cassation as well as representatives of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Serbian delegation to the PACE and members of the Parliament. They will also meet the Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, representatives of the media and civil society and members of the diplomatic community.
