21/01/2019 Session
Gender equality at the Assembly, changes to the rules on electing judges of the Strasbourg Court, PACE members’ declarations of interest, and election observations were among the topics covered in the progress report of the Bureau and the Standing Committee, presented by Ian Liddell-Grainger (United Kingdom, EC). The Assembly also adopted new rules on access to Council of Europe premises during sessions and committee meetings.
The report aims to review the work of the Assembly’s subsidiary bodies since the last session. In his presentation, the rapporteur also touched on the situation regarding the credentials of the Russian delegation, looming budget cuts at the Council of Europe and possible reform.
The Assembly also discussed its observation of the recent presidential election in Georgia, based on a report by Andrej Hunko (Germany, UEL), and of the early parliamentary elections in Armenia, based on a report by Aleksander Pociej (Poland, EPP/CD).
