Lise Christoffersen (Norway, SOC) and Valeriu Ghiletchi (Republic of Moldova, EPP/CD), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for post-monitoring dialogue with the Republic of North Macedonia, are to make a fact-finding visit to Skopje from 29 to 31 May 2019.
Discussions will focus in particular on recent developments since the co-rapporteurs’ last visit in June 2018, with a special focus on the fight against corruption, the rights of minorities, as well as the state of progress as regards fulfilling Council of Europe commitments and obligations.
They are due to meet the President of the Republic, the President of the Government, the Speaker of the Assembly, the Ministers of Interior and Justice, as well as the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs and the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy.
Meetings are also scheduled with leaders of political parties, the delegation of North Macedonia to PACE, the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, the Ombudsman, as well as representatives of the judicial authorities, NGOs, the media and the diplomatic community.
The co-rapporteurs will give a press conference at the end of their visit on 31 May, at 10 am, at the Holiday Inn Hotel (Filip Vtori Makedonski 5, Skopje).
