The government of Germany has made a voluntary contribution of €100,000 to support the activities of PACE’s Parliamentary Network Women Free from Violence and No Hate Parliamentary Alliance.
The Network Women Free from Violence aims to promote the ratification and effective implementation of the Istanbul Convention among Council of Europe member states and to put an end to violence against women through awareness-raising as well as activities targeted towards parliamentarians. The Network is coordinated by PACE’s General Rapporteur on violence against women, Ms Zita Gurmai (Hungary, SOC).
The No Hate Alliance endeavours to tackle racism, hatred (including hate speech), intolerance, antisemitism, islamophobia, anti-Gypsyism, homophobia and transphobia, through various activities including awareness-raising campaigns, hearings and conferences. Its activities are coordinated by PACE’s General Rapporteur on combating racism and intolerance, Mr Momodou Malcolm Jallow (Sweden, UEL).
The agreements were signed on 20 April 2021 by Ambassador Rolf Mafael, Permanent Representative of Germany to the Council of Europe, and Mr Bjorn Berge, Deputy Secretary General.
