The lists of candidates for the posts of judges to the European Court of Human Rights in respect of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation and Ukraine; the lists of candidates to the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) in respect of several countries; the 2021 Václav Havel Human Rights Prize; the 2021 World Forum for Democracy; and elections observations, were among the items in the progress report of the PACE’s Bureau and Standing Committee, presented today by Jacques Maire (France, ALDE), in a plenary debate.
This report reviews the work and decisions of the Assembly's subsidiary bodies since the last session.
The Assembly also discussed in more detail the observation of:
- the early parliamentary elections in Armenia (20 June 2021), on the basis of a report presented by George Katrougalos (Greece, UEL),
- the early parliamentary elections in Bulgaria (11 July 2021), on the basis of a report presented by Alfred Heer (Switzerland, ALDE),
- and the early parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova (11 July 2021), on the basis of a report presented by Stefan Schennach (Austria, SOC).
