Fight against Islamophobia: PACE rapporteur on a fact-finding visit to Paris

Momodou Malcolm Jallow (Sweden, UEL)

Momodou Malcolm Jallow (Sweden, UEL), PACE rapporteur on raising awareness of and countering Islamophobia in Europe, began a two-day fact-finding visit to Paris today as part of the preparation of his report on this issue.

This visit includes meetings with members of the Senate and the National Assembly, representatives of civil society, the President of the Inter-ministerial Delegation for the Fight against Racism, Anti-Semitism and Anti-LGBT Hatred (DILCRAH), experts, human rights lawyers, and journalists.

In a context of increasing intolerance faced by Muslims in Europe, the rapporteur will take stock of the situation and consider appropriate counter-measures. In his report, he will pay particular attention to women, who are particularly vulnerable to this type of discrimination, and to the potentially negative impact of anti-terrorism policies.

A future fact-finding visit to the United Kingdom is planned.
