PACE rapporteur to make monitoring visit to Serbia

Axel Schäfer (Germany, SOC), one of the co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the monitoring of obligations and commitments by Serbia, will make a fact-finding visit to the country from 2 to 4 October 2023.

In Belgrade, Mr Schäfer is due to meet, in particular, the Speaker of the National Assembly, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ministers of Justice and the Interior (to be confirmed), as well as the Minister of Information and Telecommunications.

Talks are also scheduled with the leaders of the parliamentary groups, the members of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues, the Serbian delegation to PACE, the Ombudsperson, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, as well as representatives of the judicial authorities, the diplomatic community and civil society.

In Novi Sad, Mr Schäfer will hold meetings with representatives of the authorities of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
