The Assembly today ratified the credentials of the German parliamentary delegation to PACE, which had been challenged on the opening day of the Assembly’s session on the procedural grounds of a lack of political balance within the delegation.
The Assembly’s Rules Committee submitted its opinion to the President of the Assembly, who – in line with Rule 7.2 – read out its conclusion to the plenary Assembly, without debate: “The Rules Committee has examined the various objections raised and has established that the German delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly was appointed in compliance with Articles 25 and 26 of the Statute of the Council of Europe and Rule 6.2.a of the Assembly’s Rules of Procedure.”
The President added: “Consequently, the committee concludes that the credentials of the Germany parliamentary delegation should be ratified.”
